New Genealogy Books
We have just added two new books to the Library's genealogy collection. Both are from Ancestry Publishing and may be found on the Upper Level in the Genealogy Collection - 929.102 call number.
1. The Official Guide to Rootsweb.com by Myra Vanderpool Gormley.
2. The Official Guide to Ancestry.com by George G. Morgan.
These books may be checked out for a three week lending period. Enjoy!!

New Local History and Cemetery Books
The Northville Genealogical Society offers several great resources for sale and the Library recently purchased the following from them:
1. Northville Township...from the Beginning..a journey recalled.
2. Rural Hill Cemetery, Northville Michigan. Burials August 15, 1835 to November 22, 2003.
3. Waterford Cemetery, Franklin Road, Northville Township Michigan. Burials September 1, 1819 to June 21, 1961.
4. Thayer Cemetery, Six Mile and Napier Roads, Northville Township, Michigan. Burials May 24, 1811 to October 21, 2003.
5. Yerkes Cemetery, Eight Mile Road between Silver Springs and Meadowbrook, Northville, Michigan.
6. Oakwood Cemetery, Cady Street, one block south of W. Main Street, Northville, Michigan. Burials 1808-1990.
7. Knapp Cemetery, 43005 Nine Mile Road, Novi, Michigan.

New Genealogy Book
The Library just added the book Courthouse Research for Family Historians to the genealogy collection. Find it at 929.1 R. This book may be checked out for three weeks.

New Genealogy Books at the Library
Three new genealogy books have been added to our Library collection in the past week. Two are by Bill Dollarhide, who is well-known in the genealogy field. The first one, Getting Started in Genealogy Online is a 63 page paperback that provides forms as well as basic information. The second book is a reference work called New York State Censuses & Substitutes. It details (by county) what is available in the way of state censuses and other population lists. There are county boundary maps and forms included as well.
The third new book is an updated version of John Grenham's Tracing your Irish Ancestors. In his third edition, Grenham expands his county source lists and includes many online web resources. Those tracing ancestors in Ireland should take a look at this new edition.

New Genealogy Books
We have added two new reference genealogy books to the Library's collection. both are published by the Genealogical Society of Washtenaw County, Michigan.
1. Directory of Cemeteries of Washtenaw County Michigan
2. Washtenaw County Michigan Plat Maps 1856 and 1864.
They will be shelved in the Refence area on the lower level in the 929.5 section.

New Genealogy Book
For those of us who like to combine computer skills and genealogy, the Library has a new book called Digitizing Your Family History. Written by Rhonda R. McClure, this book presents "Easy methods for preserving your heirloom documents, photos, home movies, and more in a digital format."
Find this book shelved on the lower level of the Library with the call number 929.102 M.

New Genealogy Book
The Family Tree Problem Solver by Marsha H. Rising shows "proven methods for scaling the inevitable brick wall" in genealogy. This book will be shelved in Adult Non-Fiction 929.107 R and may be checked out for three weeks.

New Genealogy Books
Several new books have just been added to the Library's genealogy section:
1. Walking with Your Ancestors by Melinda Kashuba is a "genealogist's guide to using maps and geography" to find ancestors. Adult non-fiction area, 929.107 K
2. Family History 101 by Marcia Nelnyk is "a beginner's guide to finding your ancestors." Adult non-fiction area, 929.1 N.
3. Uncovering Your Ancestry through Family Photographs by Maureen A. Taylor offers tips for dating your photographs. Adult non-fiction area, 929.107 T.
All of these books will be shelved in the circulating genealogy area and may be checked out for three weeks. Enjoy!

The Genealogy Handbook now available
The Genealogy Handbook; the complete guide to tracing your family tree by by Ellen Galford is now available to check out. This book is aimed at beginners and is located at 929.1G in the lower level adult non-fiction area.

New Genealogy Books
A new edition of Michigan Genealogy; Sources and Resources by Carol McGinnis has been added to the Genealogy Reference Collection with the call number 929.107M. County web addresses are listed when available and updated information along with web addresses is given for county and local genealogical societies and collections.

Ancestry's Red Book, 3rd Edition Arrived!
The long-awaited new edition of the Red Book has now been purchased by the Library. It will be shelved in Adult Reference 929.1 E. This genealogy resources details sources for research by state, and then by county and town.

New books on dating old photographs
The Library has three new books that may help in dating old photographs based on clothing and fashion. Two are part of a series called Dating Old Photographs, 1840-1929 and may be found in adult non-fiction 929.107 F. The third book is called Dressed for the Photographer: Ordinary Americans & Fashion, 1840-1900. This is a beautiful book, almost 600 pages long, with detailed information on fashions of the Nineteenth Century. It is shelved in adult non-fiction, 391.009 S.

Ships of Our Ancestors book
Michael J. Anuta's Ships of our Ancestors is a photographic archive of 900 ships that were used to transport immigrants to this country during the latter half of the Nineteenth Century and the Twentieth Century. Although published in 1983 originally, it has been reprinted and is a new addition to the Genealogy Reference Collection at the Library. Find it at Ref.929.373 A.

New Genealogy Reference Books
The Library has added two new genealogy books to the Reference Collection: The New England Gazetteer by John Hayward, originally published in 1839, and Records of the Revolutionary War by W.T.R. Saffell, originally published in 1893. Included with this last book is the Index to Saffell's List of Virginia Soldiers in the Revolution by J.T. McAllister. Look for both of them in the Ref. 929 area in the Lower Level of the Library.

New German Research Reference Books
Ancestors in German Archives; A guide to Family History Sources by Raymond S. White III and Encyclopedia of German-American Genealogical Research by Clifford Neal Smith are new additions to the Genealogy Reference area in the Lower Level of the Library. Both are in the 929.343 area. Enjoy!

New Genealogy CD-ROMs at the Library
Two new Family Tree Maker CD-ROMs have been added to the Genealogy Collection; New Jersey Genealogies #1, 1600s-1800s and Maryland Genealogies and Marriages, 1634-1820. After processing, these items will be at the Media Retrieval Desk in the Lower Level.
